Symbolism

SHIELD

The Gold shield signifies the virtues of honor, wisdom, nobleness, goodwill and vigor. Red (Marine Corps Scarlet) represents valiance, boldness, courage, hardiness, liberty, passion, patriotism and zeal. Together, the Gold and Scarlet represent the institutional colors of the United States Marine Corps. National Flag Blue symbolizes constancy, devotion, justice, loyalty and truth. The five point division of the shield is derived from the former Installations and Logistics organizational seal. The addition of the key and wheel reflects the Marine Corps historic traditions; it is taken in part from the specialized insignia worn by Marines assigned to the Quartermaster General of the Marine Corps prior to the Second World War. The key symbolizes the ability to open avenues of support and the wheel denotes mobility of supplies and material; the thirteen spokes and stars represent the early founding of our nation. The embattled of four refers to the four sub-elements of the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF): the Command Element (CE), Ground Combat Element (GCE), Aviation Combat Elements, (ACE) and Logistics Combat Element (LCE).

CREST

The Eagle, Globe and Anchor above the rolled and turned Gold and Marine Corps Red torse represents the organizational focus of providing all aspects of logistical support to sustain the United States Marine Corps.

SUPPORTERS

The Mameluke sword and Model 1859 Non Commissioned Officer sword represent the Marine Corps warfighters who depend on timely logistical support throughout the globe.
